- Renal: Protein kinase anchor proteins
- Study ID
- This group consists of anchor proteins which act as regulators of protein kinase function. A-kinase anchor proteins (AKAPs) are part of in this group and bind to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A (PKA) confining the holoenzyme to discrete locations within the cell. The regulatory subunits of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) are also included. Germline mutations of PRKAR1A predispose to the Carney complex cancer syndrome and somatic translocations of the gene have been found in papillary thyroid cancers.
Sequencing of any given sample through the gene sets should be considered work in progress. Lack of reported mutations in any given gene for a particular sample does not necessarily imply the sample is wildtype for the gene.
