- Pilot: Genes associated with MYC proteins
- Study ID
- This gene set is composed of the oncogene MYC (also known as c-Myc) and proteins which are associated with it. MYC is a transcription factor which is amplified or translocated in different types of cancer including Burkitt lymphoma and B-CLL. Amplification of MYC promotes cell proliferation and transformation by upregulating genes which promote cell growth and repressing genes which prevent cell growth. Amplifications of genes homologous to MYC (e.g. MYCL1 and MYCN) have also been associated with different types of tumours.
Sequencing of any given sample through the gene sets should be considered work in progress. Lack of reported mutations in any given gene for a particular sample does not necessarily imply the sample is wildtype for the gene.
